Says USA Today:

The U.S. Department of Agriculture and Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine confirmed that a 13-year-old cat whose owners had experienced flu-like symptoms contracted H1N1 (swine) flu.

Great. Now a cat has the swine flu? How in the world did that happen? All the owner did was not wash their hands before petting the kitty, leave damp Kleenex in an open and inviting trash can, and--oh yeah--sneeze into the cat's mouth.

Just kidding. But seriously, folks. Get flu shots to protect yourself, your family, and now...YOUR PETS.

Sheesh, the more you know.

I didn't run in Sunday's New York City Marathon, but the marathon ran into me! Yes, as I made my way to volunteer at a children's creative writing workshop in Park Slope, Brooklyn, dozens of athletes and supporters crossed my path. It was awesome to witness droves of runners accomplishing such a daunting physical feat!
