Pete recommends: Fake news, commercial-free radio, and 10 Commandments parody
Fake News
With
all the bad political, business and gossip news assaulting us on a
moment-by-moment basis, it's good to know that there are folks out there making
fun of it. Sure, you've got The Daily Show With John Stewart, The
Colbert Report, and "Weekend Update" on Saturday Night Live, which are all great, but there are
also a few gems online you can get a quick laugh from. They include
Infauxtainment.com, The Onion and The Spoof. Check these sites out and get some
needed relief from the world.

Good New Stuff
For quite some time I felt that I couldn't find good music anymore; radio's gone too corporate, and major labels release only pop for the masses to
ensure profits. Problem is, how much more freakin' classic rock can I listen
to? I've been hearing the same thing for 20 years. Thankfully, there is light at
the end of the stairway to heaven, and it shines online from www.wfuv.org, a
radio station broadcast from Fordham University. Although technically a college
radio station, it's run by veterans of the airwaves. Musically, they're often
way ahead of the curve, playing current new music mixed in with obscure, cutting
edge tunes, and peppering their play lists with golden nuggets. Check it out and
smile again about radio. And oh yeah, this station is commercial-free!

Yo, Mo!
At this time of year when Passover and Easter coincide, ABC continues its legacy
of broadcasting The 10 Commandments. Produced back in 1956, it's got heavy-handed dialogue, grandiose soundtrack, and decent special effects, actually.
For
its time, it has become a classic featuring some of the all time great screen
legends: Charlton Heston (Ben Hur), Yul Brenner (The King And I),
Vincent Price (all those vampire movies), John Carradine (dad to David and
Keith), Edward G. Robison (classic gangster), Anne Baxter (Batman
villain), and Yvonne De Carlo (Lilly Munster). That's why you'll get a kick out
of a trailer parodying their performances.
